CSA: Why Join?
Why Join HGP's Community Supported Agriculture?
Homeless Garden Project’s CSA was the first in Santa Cruz county! CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture and is the most economical way to source local, organic vegetables. It serves as a means for community members to become more invested in where and how your food is grown and establish a closer, more intimate connection with the farmer and the farm that produces their food.
CSA creates a direct relationship between you, the farm, and the farmers - see where your food is grown, invest locally, obtain the freshest food possible and be a part of a larger community movement in creating a thriving local food system. Your commitment allows the Homeless Garden Project to grow with confidence, knowing that our crops have been purchased by someone who cares about the community: YOU! How does purchasing a CSA share support the Homeless Garden Project? CSA income helps to employ, train and transition people who are experiencing homelessness into meaningful, productive roles in our community. CSA income also helps to provide the materials needed to run the program and the farm.

Feed 2 Birds
Double your impact when you donate to our CSA Scholarship Program, Feed 2 Birds. Your donation of $50 or more will support HGP's training and employment programs AND provide fresh organic produce to community members who need it the most. Feed 2 Birds is in partnership with ten non-profit agencies providing over 7,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables to our neighbors facing challenges such as domestic violence, illness, low-income children and foster youth transitioning to adulthood.
